GoE is Givin' Ya Gas!
The GoE Guys are taking a summer tour to raise awareness and encourage ethanol use
Bismarck, N.D. (May 25, 2006) — After a very successful 2005 summer campaign, GoE, North Dakota's own brand of ethanol-blended fuel, announces its 2006 "Givin Ya Gas!" summer tour. The GoE Guys will be "Givin' Gas" to lucky winners throughout the state and participating in parades to raise awareness and encourage all North Dakotans to use ethanol-blended fuels in their cars, boats, lawn mowers and anything else that runs on gasoline.
The "GoE Guys," funny and energetic young men traveling in a white car decked-out in GoE decor, will entertain parade goers across North Dakota. And while in town, they will be "Givin' Ya Gas" by stopping at local petroleum retailers and buying lucky drivers a tank of GoE fuel. The Guys will post stories and photos about their parade adventures and showcase "Givin' Ya Gas" winners in an online journal and through posted photos on the GoE Web site: www.GoEfuel.com.
In addition to "Givin' Ya Gas!" at the pump, the GoE Guys are Givin' Gas through a contest for $500 worth of GoE Fuel by registering online or mailing an entry ballot. The ballots will be distributed by the GoE Guys during the parades and at the "Givin' Ya Gas" stops.
Throughout the summer of 2005, The GoE Guys were a familiar site on North Dakota's highways and in towns both small and large. They visited many fun and funky events, surprised more than 60 people with a free tank of GoE, and enjoyed connecting with thousands of North Dakotans at parades.
"The people attending the parades loved us," said Matt Charpentier, GoE Guy. "We had a great time hamming it up with the crowd — using our bull horn, throwing candy, dancing — it's a fun way to remind people to choose ethanol."
Adam Hass, the second of the three GoE Guys, says he is looking forward to givin' people gas again this summer. "Surprising people with a tank of ethanol is great," he said. "Most people are skeptical when three guys show up wanting to buy them a tank of ethanol. Once they realize who we are, they flip out. I can't wait to give people gas!"
The GoE campaign has been a success for the State Energy Office, a division of the department of commerce. "We look forward to another fun summer raising awareness about ethanol's benefits for the economy and the environment," says Kim Christianson, program manager of the State Energy Office. "The GoE 'Givin' Ya Gas' tour will reach towns across North Dakota. The GoE Guys will add energy to local parades and they will give people gas, but in a good way."
The GoE Givin' Ya Gas parade events and dates are:
- Friday, June 2: Carousel Days, Wahpeton
- Friday, June 9: Oakes Irrigation Days
- Saturday, June 10: Old Settlers Days, Center
- Saturday, July 1: Roughrider Days, Dickinson
- Saturday, July 8: White Cloud Days, Jamestown
- Saturday, July 15: Cow Town Hoe-Down, New Salem
- Sunday, July 16: Bowman County Fair, Bowman

GoE was launched in spring of 2004 as part of a comprehensive, statewide marketing campaign to increase ethanol consumption in the state. The goal of the campaign is to increase sales of ethanol, such as E-10 and E-85, and other renewable fuels.
"This GoE tour is a fun way to remind people how important ethanol is to our state," says Christianson. "It's educational and entertaining and we hope that by 'giving people gas,' they continue to make ethanol their only fuel choice."
